The Sovereign God, the creator of all things, created you and me for a purpose: to love him and to enjoy him as our Father.
But there is a problem: SIN. Instead of submitting to God, Adam and Eve sinned and rebelled against God. And just like them, we fail to trust him and sin against His infinite majesty. We have turned against His ways and turned to our own ways.
God is Holy and Just; He is perfect and without sin. God executes justice for the guilty and sets the innocent free. Because He is just, he must punish sin. We are unable to meet God’s requirement to get to heaven because of our sins.
Our sin separates us from God. According to the Scriptures, the payment of sin is death. There is no one righteous, for all have sinned. (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)
This means we cannot save ourselves. Not by good works, baptism, church membership, or anything that we can do.
The Good News is that God is also Gracious and Loving; because he is merciful, he does not want to punish us. Even though we do not deserve it, He blesses us with forgiveness and love.
Therefore, God made a way to solve this problem, and that is through the person of Jesus Christ.
God came down and took the form of human flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is God. (John 1:1,14) He came to earth, born of a virgin, and lived a perfect, sinless life. He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, rose from the grave, and gave us the opportunity to go to Heaven. He bore our sins on the cross and now offers us eternal life as a free gift. (Ephesians 2:8,9)
To receive God's gift of salvation, we must repent of our sins and have faith in Jesus. Repentance means to turn away from sin. To believe in Jesus means to fully trust on him. We trust on his finished work on the cross as a sufficient payment for our sin. We trust on His resurrection that He is the Son of God who defeated sin and death for us.
Acts 16:31 “And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."
Romans 10:10,13 "For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved"
John 6:47 "Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life"
